Abstract
This paper presents the design and analysis of direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator for wind turbines having a fractional number slots per pole. Important design considerations will be discussed and emphasized. Both magnetic equivalent circuit approach and finite element method are applied to design and optimize. Experimental tests will be carried out to validate the theoretical prediction.
