Abstract
Although counter-rotating seam intersatellite links (CRS-ISL) have been considered, its implementation and impact on the low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks is rarely discussed. The paper proposes an approach to the modeling of CRS-ISL for LEO satellite systems. The approach is based on the use of readily-available radio frequency (RF) type of antenna for establishing communications between CRS-ISL, and a simple handoff algorithm is put forward to facilitate the handoff process between counter-rotating seams´ satellites so as to maintain the CRS-ISL communication path. Through simulations, the impact and presence of CRS-ISL are discussed.
