Abstract :
This paper considers a situation where a video sequence is to be compressed and transmitted over a wireless channel. Our goal is to minimize the amount of distortion in the reconstructed video sequence under certain channel bandwidth and transmission power constraints, with transmission power allocated across packets. Two power allocation algorithms under more realistic assumptions than those used in previous work are proposed, allocating transmission power to packets according to their relative importance. Simulations are conducted for a time-correlated Rayleigh fading channel with multiple transmit antennas, and results demonstrate the performance improvement of the proposed methods over the conventional constant power method.
