Abstract
A VH-polarization diversity antenna with 45° beamwidth is proposed for a base station of CDMA mobile communications. A composite structure using modified patch and slot elements is described, and its fundamental characteristics are examined through experiment and FDTD simulation. Especially in the slot elements, wide bandwidth of over 20% is obtained by modifying the ground-plane shape. Advantageous characteristics such as large inter-polarization isolation and low cross polarization are also confirmed
