Abstract :
A skewed-rotor DC-excited flux-switching machine (DC-FSM) is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The effects of skewing angle on static characteristics, including phase flux-linkage and back electromotive-force due to field currents, electromagnetic torque, and torque ripple, have been investigated by finite element analysis (FEA). Comparison between the DC-FSM and a switched reluctance motor under the same current density is also investigated by means of FEA. Simulation results indicate that the skewed-rotor DC-FSM has better performance, including larger torque capacity and much smaller torque ripple.
