An approach to universal personal telecommunication (UPT) implementation in intelligent networks

The paper proposes and analyses some alternative solutions for providing in the intelligent network (IN) a restricted version of the UPT service. The restricted UPT provision could be performed using two IN services, Personal Number and Calling Card, that are easily supported in an IN architecture. The paper contains both the UPT service general definition and the restricted UPT service description. The first one is related to the long term scenario and it is not analyzed in the paper; the second one is the basis used to identify the features that should be provided in the proposed implementation of the restricted UPT service
