Abstract :
Discusses the goals, components, and concepts of the CAMPUS project, which aims at providing an intelligent broadband ISDN server, using previously developed building blocks, like a switching fabric, ATM interfaces, and host interfaces. Intelligent networks will need a lot of distributed processing power. That is why CAMPUS uses a multiprocessor architecture for computing as well as for communications, which makes it very regular and scalable. In addition, it includes fault-tolerance at all levels
