Abstract
A small spherical helical antenna operating in the normal mode is investigated. It is found that it can undergo a strong resonance around 900 MHz. The impedance level is very high near the resonant frequency. The radiation patterns are similar to those of the normal mode cylindrical helical antenna. This antenna is very small and can be conveniently used in mobile handsets
