Abstract :
This paper proposes a system composed of a wind turbine generator system and energy storage system (ESS) unit, in which ESS is controlled for smoothing the wind generator output power. A determination of power rating of ESS unit which is sufficient for the smoothing control but as small as possible is very important problem. In this paper, an evaluation method for the determination of the power rating of ESS is presented based on simulation analyses performed by PSCAD/EMTDC.
