Abstract :
Multihoming can enhance network reliability by utilizing the path diversity. In this paper, we put forward a new series-parallel diversity model (SPDM) based on AS rooted-tree based on multihoming model (MT model) and reliability model. Then, we define several metrics of path diversity and design correlative algorithm. By route views data, we carry out largescale experiment of AS path diversity based on multihoming. By our simulation experiment, we prove that these metrics of path diversity are simple and effective to reflect the identity of end-to-end path, and feasible to serve as measure of network performance and reliability. Furthermore, multihoming can greatly improve end-to-end path diversity, and 2-multihoming or 3-multihoming can keep high PPR (performance-to price ratio).
