  • Abstract
With rapid development of Biomedical Engineering, the demand of measuring and observation of cells or other microorganisms has been drawing the attention of scholars home and abroad. However, most of common commercial systems for measuring and observation are very big in size and expensive in price. Besides, those systems require professionals to operate. These factors will limit the applying scope. Therefore, this paper focuses on designing one low-cost, easy-to-use, small size and portable auto-focusing system. By combing with an image definition calculation algorithm and using the pre-reach/final-search auto-focus strategy, we develop and study a set of integrated auto-focusing system that can automatically monitor the situation of cells or other microorganisms by following remote orders or local preset orders, the system can automatically scan each culture dish and record videos or take photos. Experimental results demonstrate that the system is stable and reliable.
