Abstract
Two courses, one credit hour each, were introduced at Oakland University a few years ago. The first, an introduction to engineering, is offered to freshmen and the second, professional engineering, to seniors. Both courses are given in a seminar format and are part of a core program that is required of all engineering majors. The first course is given by the senior engineering faculty members from the various departments in their respective areas of specialty. The second course is given by a combination of faculty and speakers from industry and focuses on professionalism, ethics, and legal aspects, of engineering. The author summarizes details of the topics covered and the methodologies involved in the achievement of the course objectives
