  • Abstract
The Induction motors (IMs) for Electric Vehicle (EV) have an advantage of the low-cost and making it easier to manufacture of rotor as compared with other motor in industries. In this paper, 225 (kW) IM of commercialized EV is designed using Finite Element Method (FEM) for characteristic comparison analysis between 74 rotor slot of commercialized EV and 37 slot of comparable model. These models deal with the parameter of rotor structure in order to analysis rotor slot shape without changing area of copper bar. A base model of IM with 37 rotor slot design can also be split into several rotor design parts, creating a rotor structure and using the air - hole. Hence, the IM with a changing rotor shape and using an air - hole has many performance advantages similar to the 74 rotor slot of commercialized EV, such as enhancing efficiency, torque ripple and cost reduction.
