Abstract :
Banking products are changing and being introduced far more frequently today than has been typical in the past. As information systems become increasingly central to the delivery of these products, it is imperative that the development of such systems does not prevent timely delivery of these products to the market. In a nutshell, a significant portion of software architecture design must be focused on improving the productivity of software developers. The most important areas to concentrate on are the following: software reuse; efficient use of software teams; commercial availability of pre built software; good support by mainstream software development tools. The Component Object Model (COM) is fundamentally a software integration technology. A significant aspect of COM is the model that forms its foundation-this model provides features that directly support the above productivity imperatives. DCOM (Distributed COM) is the named used to describe the general purpose remoting protocol built into COM. ActiveX is a marketing term used to describe technologies that are built upon COM
