Abstract :
Dynamic Web interfaces display information using strategies not readily described by received taxonomies of visualization methods. Using a concept borrowed from linguistic theory, we propose a binary feature system for systematically analyzing dynamic Web interfaces. We offer an overview of distinctive feature theory and present nine candidate features for analyzing dynamic Web interfaces. We further demonstrate how these features are manifested in an analysis of four sample sites.
