Abstract
This paper presents a technique for reducing the storage requirements needed to implement a vector quantizer, by restricting the orientations of boundaries allowed to partition the vector space into Voronoi regions. A modification to the LBG algorithm optimizes the quantizer within the constraints of the Voronoi boundary restrictions and a binary tree growth encoder
