Abstract
Dimming ballasts become more important in the present time for its high efficiency and contribution in energy saving. There are two kinds of interfaces for the commercial dimming ballasts, that is, the analog and digital interfaces. Unfortunately both of them can not be operated by the traditional toggle power switches which are already installed in the buildings. Rewiring is necessary if the dimming ballasts want to be installed. This paper proposes a micro-processor based dimming controller with both analog and digital interfaces which makes the control of the dimming ballasts via traditional toggle switches be possible. The proposals of the dimming controller applications in both analog and digital dimming lighting systems are also proposed in this work.
