Abstract
A pilot project for the development of versatile workstation based tutorial software to assist engineering students in visualizing and understanding important fundamental engineering concepts has led to the creation of an interactive, reasonably portable application program. the current tutorial structure provides several operations for style and level of interaction. The author reports the development and early evaluation of this tutorial software for use in digital logic design and digital signal processing. Using lessons learned from the development of this system and from first evaluations of it, the development of a more comprehensive tutorial system for introductory engineering courses and engineering mathematics is discussed
