Abstract
This paper presents a new vectorial approach to the design of line segment detectors. The advantage of the approach is that only two template masks are required for computing the magnitude and orientation of a line segment: hence it is much faster than other approaches to line segment detection. In addition, when set up correctly the method is capable of a remarkable degree of accuracy, estimating line segment orientation to better than 0.4
