Abstract :
An ultra-high power Nd:glass laser have been developed for studies on "Fast Ignition" concept. The laser system consists of an OPCPA (Optical Parametric Chirp Pulse Amplification) front-end, a main amplifier chain using Nd:glass laser, a large aperture double pass compressor, and a focusing system. The maximum pulse energy of 1.1 kJ was obtained from the amplifier chain with the spectral width of 3.7 nm. After pulse compression, 900 TW (420 J in 470 fs) was achieved. The maximum intensity is more than 1020 W/cm2.
