Abstract
A practical overview of the thermoluminescence (TL) applied to dose cartography is presented. The storage characteristics, the response range, the TL maximum position and intensity are discussed. The most relevant properties related to the use of TL dosemeters (TLD) for dose mapping applications are addressed. A new TLD radiation dose mapping reader is described. In this system, a TLD plate (CaSO4:Dy on Kapton, 20×20 cm2, 100 μm), previously irradiated is scanned with a CO2 laser and the thermoluminescence signal is digitized
