Abstract :
The research and practice of smart grid around the world, as well as the collaboration between smart grid and demand response (DR), are summarized. Furthermore, the issue on the collaboration between smart grid and DR is elaborated systematically, including the DR-related smart grid technologies, the benefits of the collaboration. Smart grid technologies for DR involve multiple technologies in many aspects and several typical ones are: remote connect/disconnect, smart meter, consumer portal, home-area network, enhanced customer service, etc. The collaboration between DR and smart grid can bring multi-facet benefits and is conducive to facilitate a win-win situation. Furthermore, the collaboration benefits of DR and smart grid initiatives are demonstrated. Finally, suggestions and assumptions for achieving the collaboration between smart grid and DR are presented.
