Abstract :
A Laplace transform study is undertaken on a line with frequency-independent characteristics and in nonzero initial conditions. With the aid of a procedure based on the concept of travelling waves and the superposition theorem, a new formulation is established allowing the voltage and current at the terminals of the line to be determined. A more general method is then proposed for simulating the transients of a line with frequency-dependent characteristics. A comparison is made between the results obtained by EMTP and those of the proposed model
