Abstract
This paper discusses the electrical and thermal design of silicon space solar cells with the authors´ proposed integrated bypass function (IBF) which prevents failures due to reverse biasing. The advantageous electrical properties of PV modules made of these cells are clarified using computer simulations and confirmed experimentally by reverse bias tests
