  • Abstract
    We describe a mechanism to generate bandwidth-limited pulses in passively mode-locked high-power external-cavity surface-emitting semiconductor lasers (VECSELs). It involves a soliton-like interplay of nonlinear phase changes with the cavity dispersion.
