The experiences of roughly a dozen IS strategic planning efforts within AT&T as well as published sources in the IS and business planning literature are described. Contemporary approaches to IS planning are summarized. A categorized list of pitfalls is presented, and suggestions for research to deal with these pitfalls are offered
