Abstract
The demands against the light sources used in fiber optical communication are very high, especially in wavelength division multiplex systems. The ordinary semiconductor laser diodes are suffering from numerous bad behaviors like wavelength drift, mode hopping, temperature dependency or other faults. Due to the latest upgrade of the Fiber Optical Laboratory at the Budapest Tech Education and Innovation Centre, Szekesfehervar, the characterization of optical light sources is now a daily routine in student laboratory exercises.
