Abstract :
It is our pleasure to welcome you to WICSOC 2011 - the first international Workshop on Issues and Challenges in Social Computing. Social computing is a new paradigm of computing and technology development. New applications/systems leveraging social computing are being developed to address problems in many different areas. Novel techniques for information analysis, reuse, and integration are critical to make sense of social information. Systematic approaches, design principles, and evaluation strategies need to be researched for developing effective social computing applications. Other challenges in social computing include accommodating privacy, security, and trust expectations of users. The aim of this workshop is to discuss and exchange ideas on the issues and challenges in social computing systems.
