  • Abstract
In this paper, the scientific methods to select well pump for the user are presented. The major factors that affect the type selecting of well pumps are discussed in detail, including pump capacity, water head, minimum static water depth of the well and its changing laws, and so on. The three main methods to get the optimum water inflow of well pump are introduced, including test, estimation, and analogy methods. The specific steps of well pump type selection and the important ways used to check the operating points are also expounded. Finally, a simple approach to get the optimum of discharge and head is supplied, so that users can select the type of well pumps in a more reasonable and feasible way. As a result, both the investment of well pump and the cost of pumping can be reduced; the operating efficiency of equipments in the pump station will be raised at the same time. The approaches presented in this paper have high application value in practice.
