Abstract :
The development of an interactive software package that provides a hands-on implementation of the Simplex method is presented. The goal is to supplement classroom instruction in linear programming. The user defines a linear programming problem and may attempt to find the solution using either a step-by-step approach or a direct approach. The step-by-step approach is an implementation of the Simplex method that examines the solution space after each pivoting operation. The direct approach follows the algorithm of the Simplex method until a termination condition is found
