  • Abstract
Braille and audio-recorded materials do not meet the information needs of the blind today. Interactive information on CD-ROM can benefit hundreds of thousands of blind persons who are at a disadvantage with the types of information services now in use. The goal is to provide reference, educational, and leisure reading materials to the blind and visually impaired on CD-ROM disks. Using a simple-to-operate and inexpensive consumer CD-ROM platform, the authors can supply indexed reading material which is spoken by a computer or recorded human voice. The individual would use a simple remote control to respond to spoken menus, for selecting material of interest
