Abstract
The time-resolved Z-scan method has been shown to be particularly suitable to the study of ion doped solids, which present slow nonlinearity (response times ∼10-4 s). In this work we used the time-resolved Z-scan technique to measure the nonlinear refractive index, n2, in Nd3+:YAG. We also study the saturation behavior of the Z-scan data in other to monitor the evolution of excited state population.
