Abstract :
A new method for designing the IM3 phase of a current feedback amplifier has been proposed, enabling the realization of GSM-UMTS multi-stage RFICs with high linearity. Not only the amplitude but also the phase differences between the IM3 characteristics, with and without feedback, are estimated from linear parameters. Thus the IM3 characteristics of the amplifier block and the effect of the feedback circuit can be designed separately. To confirm the validity of the method, an 850 MHz current feedback amplifier was tested, and a good agreement between the estimated and measured results has been achieved
