Abstract :
Severely retarded children have problems developing even rudimentary language skills. Even with nonverbal children, however, efforts can be made to convey the concept of expressive language by encouraging the child to indicate his desire for an object (food, toy) by touching a photograph of the object. One valuable heuristic to speed learning is to trigger an electronic voice message each time a picture is touched. WeeTalk is an electronic voice recorder aimed specifically at this application. It provides an effective and affordable method for voice feedback during language training
