  • Abstract
The paper explains the significance of network behaviour research and gives the definition of network behaviours. Then it discusses how to record behaviour traces through observation and gives 4 layers of variable observation, defines several description items of network behaviours based on the behaviour elements and gives the constraints of the key items. As new research hotspot, methodology discussion is necessary. Because of network complexity and randomicity, it mainly adopts behaviour modeling methods and proposes behaviour base modeling method. It gives an example of automatic repeat request protocol, which illustrates how states change from one to another caused by behaviours. The description and modeling methods of network behaviours can provide theoretic groundwork and technological support for further research on network behaviours
