The change of regional industrial structure, as the embodiment of human activities, is an essential driving factor of global and local economic change. Water transfers, as one component of a large water supply solution, inevitably play an important role in regional long-term water supply picture. The discussion of options for dealing with third parties impacted by a water transfer needs to take place during the development of a water transfer program. Consequently, the research on benefits assessment of water transfers and associated effects on the regional industrial structure is one of the key issues of researches on regional response to water transfers. However, compared to the flourish of researches on water transfers, few studies have been conducted to assess the industrial structure impact of water transfers. In this study, based on benefit analysis of increasing water supply of different industrial departments, the influence coefficient of water transfers is constructed, so as to make a quantitative assessment of industrial structure impact of water transfers. And the results of the case study in Taihu basin intake area, Yangtze River Delta Region of China, show that there are two obvious changes of industrial structure in the study area from 2002 to 2010, associated with a continuous increasing proportion of Tertiary Industrial while decreasing proportion of Secondary Industrial, which indicates a positive economical effect of water supply change. And the industrial structure influence coefficient of Suzh- u by Taihu Water Transfer is larger than other cities.
