Abstract :
The SBS substance of quartz glass was investigated. This study reported a SBS compressor of fused-quartz glass. The fused-quartz glass can be used as a phase conjugator for a high-peak energy lasers instead of the gaseous or liquid SBS materials. Further, the merits of bulk glasses as phase conjugating media are their compactness, harmlessness and easiness of handling. The laser used in experiments was a linearly polarized Q-switched Nd:YAG oscillator at single-frequency and TEM00 mode operation. The amplified output was a 8-ns pulse of about 500 mJ at a 10-Hz repetition rate.
