Abstract
The performance of the sum-of-largest-envelopes (SLE) receiver has been estimated previously by a central limit theorem (CLT) approximation which requires a large number of detection periods for good accuracy. In this paper, the performance the SLE and the sum-of-largest-envelopes-squared (SLES) receivers are determined analytically. It is shown that the SLES receiver has slightly better performance than the SLE receiver. For small numbers of detection periods, it is also shown that both receivers have better performance than the multi-hop maximum likelihood (MML) receiver only in the large hop SNR region
