Abstract :
A common fault on glazed ceramic tableware is the surface glaze fault known as cut-glaze. It is proposed to use an image capture technique involving a structured light source to emphasise these faults. This method gives roughly circular patterns around the faults. A number of methods are investigated for the subsequent detection of the faults. These are: correlation, the Hough transform and neural network pattern recognition. Results are presented and conclusions drawn
