Abstract :
Modeling accuracy has a direct impact on the prediction quality of a circuit or system´s performance. However, there is no standard way to evaluate the quality and validity range of microwave device and circuit models. This paper proposes a set of metrics to quantify the large-signal prediction capability of non-linear microwave models. This set of metrics originated from an activity involving 22 European Institutes that all have a long-term experience in microwave modeling. As a result, this commonly agreed set of metrics can be considered as an important step towards a durable and standardized model evaluation methodology. The proposed set of metrics is illustrated by practical device and amplifier modeling examples
