Abstract
A parabolic wave equation (PWE) written in ray coordinates forms the basis of the general concept of "transversal diffusion" put forward by G.D. Malyuzhinets (1959). Based on this asymptotic approach, we consider a 3D problem of diffraction by a rectangular trihedral angle. Numerical integration of the corresponding PWEs yields a uniform description of the edge and vertex waves in the far zone.
