Abstract :
Optimum firing angle of the smart motor controller of three phase induction motor at starting depends on the motor parameters. This paper investigates the effect of variation of each motor parameters on the starting performance. Motors having different ratings are used for the work. Extensive simulations are carried out to study the effect of variation of each motor parameters on selected performance indices. Appropriate value for each parameter is obtained from the simulation results, hence best parameter combination and its optimum firing angle is arrived.
