Abstract
The use of multirate systems that utilize finite impulse response (FIR) filters for several audio applications is discussed. Decimation and interpolation techniques allow the use of different sampling rates throughout the audio path and the reduction of filter size for ease and flexibility of implementation. It is shown that the techniques can be easily implemented by choosing a transversal FIR filter structure. Typical hardware and software structures are presented. Applications of these methods showing the versatility and ease of implementation in several audio systems are introduced
