Abstract
A channel aware multiple access scheme based on slow frequency-hopping code-division multiple-access (SFH/CDMA) is proposed for a cellular communication system. In contrast to conventional FH, which uses a channel state independent hopping sequence, a transmitter in the proposed scheme hops to an available frequency subband with the highest transmission gain. It is shown that the proposed scheme can offer large performance gains over the conventional FH scheme.
