Abstract :
In order to base its protective measures against lightning overvoltages on real regional data collection and to improve simultaneously the operating performances of its networks, the Israel Electric Corp. intends to install a modern system aimed at locating the cloud-to-ground flashes and to measure their main characteristics. On the background of a summary description of lightning characteristics and the system´s main components, this paper presents the influence of different lightning parameters on the protective solution selected, as it results from a performed computer study
