  • Abstract
A preliminary analysis of the procedures for the calculation of short-circuit currents and the analysis of relevant ANSI/IEEE standards indicate the need for increasing the accuracy and confidence of short-circuit current calculations in electrical penetration assemblies. The authors describe the development of a calculating method and implementation of this method as a digital computer program, suitable for use on an IBM personal computer or compatible. This program is written in Microsoft Fortran and Microsoft Quick Pascal programming languages. This work is expected to achieve high computational accuracy, thereby increasing confidence of nuclear power station design. The simplified method of calculation is described. The short-circuit calculations are presented. The computer implementation is described. An example system consisting of ten motors is used as a test case. Plots of system and motor values obtained by the program for this test case are included. The results are accurate
