Abstract :
The paper presents the design of a VLSI fuzzy processor which is capable of performing fuzzy inferences. Its main features are: parallel processing of several fuzzy rules; a pre-computation phase of the degree of positive truth of the antecedents, processing of the only active rules; optimized representation of membership functions. The processing speed is up to 2.5 MFLIPS, with a clock frequency of 60 Mhz 256 rules, 8 input variables, either crisp or fuzzy, 1 Consequent and an 8-bit resolution
