Abstract
In this paper a new fuzzy based control concept for severely disturbed industrial processes with large dead-times is presented which is characterized by a combination of fuzzy adaptive controllers with a physically based conventional predictive control concept. It has been successfully applied to a complex rheological glass manufacturing process. Practical experiences with the control design, optimization, implementation and process operation are discussed
