  • Abstract
In order to increase the power density of the piston engine, the power transmission mechanism of a twin-rotor piston engine based on cycloid is introduced. The twin-rotor piston engine has a number of advantages compare to other piston engine type. The combination method of its unique power transmission mechanism which use the cycloid and the crank-rocker mechanism creating a cyclic rotary motion superposed on uniform rotary motion of the rotor is proposed. Two types of this mechanism designed by the method are derived. This has been examined through the kinematic analysis. The results show that this engine mechanism is compact and has the multiple power strokes per revolution of the flywheel.
