Abstract :
The authors use the refined maximum likelihood technique with a new approach in conjunction with FDPEM software to simulate the radar echoes of the target, while using ray-tracing as propagation model. FDPEM uses a finite difference method to solve the parabolic equation in order to simulate the wave propagation in space and considers the effect irregular features of the sea surface. The effect of the sea profile on the wave propagation and on target tracking for different sea states is shown
